Building a Website: What are My Options?

Whether you own a business and would like to promote it, or you just want a personal website or blog for yourself, you are probably wondering what your options are. There are many different ways to build a website, and the proper choice for you depends on your individual needs and budget. The two basic options are to do it yourself, or to hire a web developer. I will examine these two options in greater detail below.

The first option is to do the legwork yourself and build a website on your own time. Using tools like WordPress, you can build a basic website for free or cheap. However, your options will be limited unless you have real web development experience. Hiring a website builder is generally a better choice, unless you know how to code proficiently. If you’re just after a basic blog or personal website, you can get away with using free tools like WordPress.

The second, and generally better option is to hire a web developer. These days, coding is complicated and, quite honestly, boring. Instead of wasting countless hours trying to learn the ins and outs of web development, why not just hire a professional web designer? Now you may be thinking, won’t that be expensive? Simply put, it doesn’t have to be. If you want to hire a web developer, you should first decide on your budget. From there, you can talk to the website builder about your ideas and needs.

A professional web developer has all the experience and tools needed to create professional, clean websites that will really stand out from the competition. If you’re building a website for business purposes, I strongly recommend that you hire a web designer. If you just need a blog or a simple website, save yourself some money and use Blogger or WordPress.
